Great tool for use when playing online Texas Holdem or as a tool to help you learn the true strength of starting hand cards-allowing you to make better pre-flop decisions. The Starting Hand Dashboard is a tool to help you analyze and learn the strength of your Texas Holdem starting hand (hole cards). In Texas Holdem, you are dealt 2 cards, from which you will build your 5 card hand. Understanding the relative strength of your starting hand is critical to the success of your Texas Holdem skills.
Because the interface is easy to use, you can use the app during real games (usually online). It can also be used as a starting hand analyzer/trainer-allowing you to choose hole cards and learn a wealth of information about them.
To use the app, you can select your 2 hole cards and set a variety of switches and buttons to get information about your starting hand and get a recommended move, based on your cards, position, the “tightness” of the game and whether you are facing a raise.
Interface Features:
Tight/Loose Game Toggle - This toggle switch will set whether the current game is considered tight (3-5 players to the flop) or loose (6-8 players to the flop).
New Hand Button - This button brings up the card chooser screen to select your two hole cards. Touching the cards will also bring up the card chooser screen.
Position Buttons - Select your current position: SB (small blind), BB (big blind), Early (early position), Middle (middle position), and Late (late position).
Facing Raise Buttons - Select whether you are facing a raise, a reraise, or there is no raise yet.
Starting Hand Information:
This section displays a variety of information about the selected starting hand (hole cards) related to the relative strength of the hand.
Hand Group -David Sklansky et al. assigned each hand to a group, and proposed all hands in the group could normally be played similarly. The groups range from 1 (best hands) to 8 (worse hands).
Hand Rank - Without regard to the suitedness (the individual suit) of the hole cards, there are only 169 possible hand combinations. The dashboard is only concerned about whether cards are suited or not, without regard to what the suits are. These 169 hands can be ranked according to its value. Hand rank of 1 is the best possible starting hand, while 169 is the worst possible starting hand.
Hand Rank % - This represents the hand rank as a percentage. For example, a hand ranked 60 of 169 would be in the top 35.5%.
Chen Formula - The Chen Formula is another way to compute the "power ratings" of starting hands that was originally developed by Bill Chen. Generally, play hands “under the gun" where value is 8 or greater, 7 for middle position, 6 in late position, and around 5.5 at the button.
Recommended Move -This displays the recommended move based on your starting hand, your position, and whether you are facing a raise (or reraise).
Pre-flop All-In Dials:
Pre-Flop All-In Odds - This section displays the odds of winning (pre-flop) against a variety of hands.
Against Random Hand - This shows the odds of winning against a random hand (any 2 random cards).
Against Top Half Hand - This shows the odds of winning against a top half hand. Top half hands would have a hand rank of 1 through 84.
Against Top 10% Hand - This shows the odds of winning against a top 10% hand. Top 10% hands are the best hands-having a hand rank between 1 and 16.
